What is Junior Resource Centre (JRC)

Our Junior Resource Centre After-Care is attended by children of school-going age from our under-resourced and under-developed communities. The after-school care project was created to provide a safe, stimulating environment which nurtures our “latch-key” children of the Cape Flats to develop into healthy, aware and productive citizens.

The children are supervised under the watchful eyes of two qualified teachers who provide  homework supervision, numeracy, literacy, speech and drama, arts and crafts, life-skills and themed workshops, educational and recreational activities. The children are also provided with a daily nutritional snack.

The Junior Resource also has a well-developed Holiday Programme which is equipped to provide for 80 children during the school holidays. The objective of the Holiday Programme is to provide a safe environment for the children and keep them off the streets. The programme  includes a range of awareness programmes, organised short games and a nutritional meal.
